Richmond County Jail Roster Overview
The official Richmond County jail roster path is the Northern Neck Regional Jail JailTracker roster. NNRJ links the roster from its inmate information, family visitation, mail, phone, and property pages. The roster covers people held at the regional jail, including Richmond County detainees and other local, regional, federal, or out-of-state detainees housed at the facility.
Richmond County does not operate a separate county-only jail page. The sheriff remains the local constitutional law-enforcement office, but jail custody is routed through NNRJ. That division affects records requests. For current custody, use the jail roster or the automated inmate information line. For arrest reports or law-enforcement records that are not posted online, start with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the county FOIA process.
The roster is not a full criminal-history record. It may show booking charges, bond information, holds, court dates, and custody status, while the court system shows formal charges and case outcomes. A person sentenced to state prison may leave the regional jail and appear in the Virginia Department of Corrections locator instead.
Search Richmond County Inmate Records
Use the NNRJ roster first when the question is whether someone is currently held in regional jail. The app may require a captcha. Start broad, then narrow the result. If a name search fails, try spelling variations and check whether the person may have been released, transferred to VADOC, or held under a federal or immigration channel.
- Open the official NNRJ JailTracker roster, not a third-party jail directory.
- Enter the last name first. Add a first name if the result list is broad.
- Complete captcha or app validation if it appears.
- Review the matching record for jacket number, charges, bond fields, facility, holds, and status.
- Use 804-250-1750 if the roster is down, slow, blocked, or unclear.
- Switch to VADOC, BOP, ICE, courts, or VINE when the custody question is outside NNRJ.
Richmond County Roster Search Fields
The JailTracker/Public Safety Cloud page is a Blazor app, so some visible fields are loaded by the app rather than by static HTML. The official model still identifies key search inputs and display toggles. These fields support the Richmond County inmate records search even when the live screen changes slightly.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | Unspecified | Official model includes lastNameSearchText and offender name search. |
| First Name | Text | Unspecified | Use when last-name results are too broad. |
| Search Type | Option/dropdown | Unspecified | Model includes SearchType and search-type options. |
| Agency | Route value | System | Roster route uses Northern_Neck_VA. |
| Captcha | Image/text validation | Conditional | Captcha fields and validation methods appear in the app model. |
| Released Since | Option/value | Optional if exposed | May support released-result filtering if enabled. |
| Facility | Display/filter | Optional if exposed | Facility display exists in the model. |
Richmond County Inmate Profile Fields
An NNRJ inmate profile may include several fields that help identify the person and explain custody status. The research did not open a live individual profile, so the field inventory below reflects the official roster app model and NNRJ policy references. Treat booking charges as jail intake data until the court case confirms the final charge list.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | First and last name display for matching a roster result. |
| Image / offender image | Booking image support exists in the app, but public display may depend on roster settings and policy. |
| Jacket number | NNRJ mail pages require the inmate name and jail jacket number for addressing. |
| Arrest or booking date | Helps connect the record to a recent Richmond County arrest. |
| Charges and charge descriptions | Booking-charge information that may differ from formal court charges. |
| Bond type and amount | Possible release terms, though the decision comes from a magistrate or court. |
| Court date, court name, case number | Clues for searching Virginia court records after booking. |
| Holds or detainers | Other-agency or court reasons that may keep a person in custody. |
Richmond County Inmate Lookup Channels
The Richmond County inmate records access chain should not stop at the online roster. NNRJ lists an automated phone line for inmate-specific information, including charges, bond, account funding, and jail voicemail information. For custody alerts, NNRJ points to Virginia VINE. For court charge records, use Virginia courts. For public records not available online, use the sheriff or county FOIA route.
| Channel | Best Use | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| NNRJ JailTracker | Current regional jail custody and roster fields. | May be slow, captcha-protected, or limited to configured public fields. |
| 804-250-1750 automated line | Charges, bond information, account funding, and voicemail information. | Phone channel, not a document copy service. |
| Richmond County Sheriff / FOIA | Local arrest records and law-enforcement records not posted online. | No detailed sheriff records request form was found in the inspected pages. |
| Virginia courts | Formal charges, hearings, dispositions, and case status. | Juvenile, sealed, expunged, or confidential matters may be restricted. |
| VINE | Custody status search and release notifications. | Notification service, not a full jail file. |

Richmond County Booking Records
Richmond County arrestees who are not released before commitment are routed into Northern Neck Regional Jail. NNRJ’s FY2024 profile says the jail does not “book” inmates, so the wording should stay precise: NNRJ houses Richmond County detainees and publishes the current roster, while arrest paperwork and charging paperwork may originate with the arresting agency and courts.
A typical path may involve arrest by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Warsaw Police, Virginia State Police, or another agency, followed by transport or commitment to NNRJ. Intake may include identity steps, property handling, medical and security screening, fingerprints, a booking photo, account creation, classification, and public roster entry if display criteria are met. Virginia law separately treats adult arrestee photographs and identity/status information as public records subject to statutory limits.
Bond is not set by jail staff. Virginia release decisions come from a magistrate or court. The roster or the automated inmate information line may show bond information, but a no-bond status, detainer, probation/parole matter, federal hold, or court order may prevent release even when one charge appears bondable.
County State and Federal Inmates
Use the custody system that matches the person’s status. A pretrial Richmond County detainee will usually be searched through NNRJ. A sentenced Virginia prisoner may be in a VADOC institution or under VADOC supervision. A sentenced federal prisoner belongs in BOP search. An immigration detainee belongs in ICE ODLS. Federal pretrial detainees housed at NNRJ may show on the jail roster even though BOP does not cover that pretrial custody in the same way.
| Custody Type | Where to Look | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial or local sentence | NNRJ JailTracker roster | Best path for Richmond County regional jail custody. |
| State prison or supervision | VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator | Updated daily and requires disclaimer agreement. |
| Sentenced federal prisoner | BOP inmate locator | Covers federal sentenced custody, not all USMS pretrial detainees. |
| Immigration detention | ICE Online Detainee Locator System | Search by A-number/country or biographic fields. |
Richmond County Jail Visitation
NNRJ uses Securus for on-site and remote video visitation. On-site visits are non-contact video visits with the inmate remaining in the housing unit. Each inmate may have up to two free 30-minute on-site visits per week, with a maximum of three visitors per visit. Remote visits are paid video visits, and the NNRJ page lists a 20-minute remote visit fee.
| Visit Type | Schedule / Length | Cost | Setup |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free on-site video | Daily slots from 8:30 AM through 4:20 PM, in 30-minute blocks | Free | Securus account, uploaded photo and driver’s license, schedule at least 24 hours ahead. |
| Remote video | Daily windows: 8:30-11:30 AM, 1:30-5:30 PM, 7:00-10:30 PM | $6.95 per 20-minute visit | Securus Video Visitation account. |
| Professional visits | Full schedule not located | Not located | Contact the facility for attorney or professional rules. |
Visitors are subject to search. NNRJ rules prohibit cell phones and electronic devices in visitation booths, limit visits to three visitors, require minors to be with an adult, and allow misconduct bans at the superintendent’s discretion.
Richmond County Mail and Money
The easiest NNRJ mail mistake is using the wrong address. Personal family and friend mail is digital and goes to Securus DMC in Tampa. Legal mail and money orders go directly to NNRJ in Warsaw. Both paths require the inmate name and jail jacket number, which can be found through the current NNRJ roster. Digital personal mail is scanned for kiosks or tablets and destroyed 60 days after release, so originals and valuables should not be sent.
